Blocked gutters is probably one of those jobs around the house that gets overlooked and seen almost, as insignificant. But, ignore it at your peril as water can cause major damage.
One of the main problems that can be caused is damp. The function of guttering is to divert rain water away from the fabric of your home. It does this by allowing it to flow freely down the drain pipes and into the main waste system or soak aways.
Blocked gutters can do one of two things,
- Cascade over and flood the ground around your footings.
- Cascade directly onto the brick work of your home.
Neither of these are good for the structure of your property and both can cause damp.
